About Us
Welcome to Advocacy Plus
Advocacy Plus was set up in 1993 as an independent charity by the Westminster Senior Citizens' Forum and Age Concern Westminster
Members saw the need for an advocacy service to speak up for older people, help them to know their rights and find out about and obtain the services older people need
We are a thriving charity, providing free, independent and confidential advocacy support for older people (aged 60 and over) in Westminster.
We support you to have a voice and make your own choices about the care, housing and health services you receive
You may call us yourself or your carer or a family member may call us on your behalf.
We also take referrals from community workers, social services, housing services and health workers, who may ask for our support on your behalf and with your permission
Advocacy Plus is a free service that is completely independent from other services
We can support you with:
- Obtaining the health and care services you need
- Getting equipment to help you live independently at home
- Making a complaint if you are dissatisfied with services
- Finding new accommodation
- Securing maintenance and repairs
- Health and care assessments
We offer you an advocate who:
- is on your side to help you speak out and be listened to
- works with you in partnership and treats you as an equal
- keeps you fully informed at all times
We are committed to:
- Providing a high quality, free, independent and confidential service to all people over 60 living in Westminster
- Equality and diversity inside and outside our organisation
- Involving older people in the development and direction of our service
- Providing high quality training and support for all our advocates
- Working in partnership with other organisations to develop advocacy services for older people across all London boroughs
